Why should you share your story? Stories sell and facts sell because people remember and relate to stories. People buy into your story. You probably remember things from when you were younger because it was in a story. Stories and music seems to stay in your subconscious forever.
What's an effective story?
A good storyteller takes you on an emotional roller coaster by hitting pain and pleasure points. When this happens you captivate the listener's attention. You feel like you are a part of the story.
Keep your story short and to the point, between two to three minutes. The average person usually loses attention within that time frame. Let people know how things were before, how they are now and talk about the future. Make sure your story follows the rules of your company and federal laws. Invest time into becoming a master storyteller. Jesus was the greatest storyteller of all.
