How to position yourself in front of the right Prospect? You have to go where the right prospects are. For example if I want to play against some good competition in basketball, I'm going to the gym with the best players. If I go to another gym I run the risk of playing against weaker competition which increases my chances of being injured.
Where should I go?
First, do some research and find out where your prospects hangout. You want to know a things like their favorite restaurants, hobbies, sports teams etc. This includes online social media spots also. These are things they do to have fun, socialize and relax. Those are the places you should go. You want to fit in naturally. Your goal is to introduce yourself and start building a relationship with the prospects.
Please do not start pitching your business, product or service. If you do that in the beginning people are going to stay away from you because no one likes to be sold to. That's like making noise while your fishing . You will scare away all the fish. They are there to relax and enjoy themselves, not to have someone pitching them. In fact, you should find a way to serve them. Do something that can give a solution, increase business or expand their network. Do this by asking the right questions which will show those answers. If you, your product or service is a solution for their problem, offer it to them in a subtle way and leave it at that. Leave them curious.
In closing do the research. Then start building relationships because you will catch more fish where the fish are
