How to win people's trust. There is a saying which says “people don't care what you know until they know that you care.” The best way to let people know that you care is to be interested in them, not interesting. You're probably asking what does that mean. When you are interested that means the focus is on the other person not yourself. You want to get that person to open up and talk about most people favorite topic, which is themselves. This is not meant in a negative way. There are questions you can ask in order to get people to share with you without it seeming intruding in their life. This should be a genuine act therefore you shouldn't do it just for your benefit.
Now on the other hand, when you are interesting that means the focus is more on you not the other person. Remember people don't care what you know until they know that you care. Good leaders don't let the conversation be about themselves. Those who ask the questions control the conversation. Generally when asked the right question people will share everything with you, including their problem.
If you are a business owner your product or service maybe the solution for the person. You won't know that unless you spend time getting to know the person by asking the right questions. If your product or service is a fit for them then share it with them. Do not try to force your product and service into people's lives.
If all else fails just be real with people. People are looking for authentic people. Be transparent and share your story with them.
