How do you set expectations for new business partners? Expectations are established in the prospecting stage. It will depend on how you present the business opportunity which will depend on your mindset.
Focus on longevity
Don't focus on getting sign up bonuses and telling people “it's simple” just to get them in the business. Build a strong foundation for your business. If you are a fan of the “easy route,” your business may not last long. Don't hype up the business opportunity and give people a false reality that is easy to do. Be real with your prospect by letting them know the work required to be successful. Let them know they will face social acceptance issues from people including family and friends.
The better your prospect, the more they will appreciate you telling them it's going to take work. You would rather tell them it's going to be tough and it's not versus telling them it's easy but once in they find out it's tough. Your opportunity is the answer to someone's prayers and that's why it's important you are honest with prospects from the start.
Create a culture
Introduce the new person into a culture that is warm, fun, focused, goal driven and family environment that people enjoy being a part of. You will have some leverage. People are less likely to quit when they run into resistance if they are involved in a community. It's easy to quit on one person than quit on a community.
The network marketing profession is a platform that can change the lives of many people. We need more ambassadors that will stand for doing it the right way.
